Title: Preschool Teacher
Department: Preschool & Kindergarten Ministry
Reports to: Preschool Director
Pay Status: Part-Time
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
General Summary and Objective: Responsible for planning and implementing an ongoing program of activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child.
Work Includes
● 9-month position – in accordance with Mansfield ISD to exclude holidays, Christmas, and Spring break.
● Generally, depending on the schedule worked - Monday to Friday from 8:30am-2:15pm
We Require
The commitment of a Christian person that will join the leadership team of St John Lutheran Preschool & Kindergarten to spread the Beliefs and Values of the St. John Lutheran Church. Minimum of 1 years’ classroom experience is preferred, but not required. We will train.
Certificates and Licenses
Qualified by the Office of Children & Family Services, CPR & First Aid certification required after hiring and must be maintained.
Education/Experience
Early Childhood degree is preferred, but not required. Applicant must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Plans and prepares lesson plans, and submits in accordance with administrative guidelines on a monthly basis.
● Oversees and facilitates the general safety of the classroom environment and its activities to include outside play.
● Interacts with children through instructional methods to include play, music, arts and crafts, reading, writing, science and physical activities.
● Assists children with completing assigned projects and enhancing learning skills.
● Designs and maintains classroom climate to include visual aids related to curriculum and age/stage of development.
● Monitors talents, special abilities, disabilities, deficiencies or problems of each individual child, documents issues/concerns as needed in log book and notifies management.
● Promotes and fosters each child's positive self-esteem and individual development toward fullest potential in the areas of physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth.
● Prepares thorough evaluations for children on a yearly basis or as needed.
● Establishes and maintains a positive interpersonal relationship with all children, fellow staff and parents/guardians.
● Assists children with personal care activities to include toileting, feeding and cleanliness needs in relation to age/stage of development.
● Works closely with Classroom Leaders in a team-teaching atmosphere for classroom activities and shares pertinent information, suggestions or ideas on a regular basis..
● Attends in-service training, conferences, staff meetings and parent meetings as required.
● Performs general classroom cleaning duties as necessary.
● Writes summaries of daily activities and provides parents/guardians with documentation.
● Maintains accurate and current attendance records and other related paperwork.
● Adheres to all established policies, procedures and code of ethics.
● Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Type
Hourly non-exempt position eligible for benefits per practices and procedures.
Pay Frequency & Compensation
Bi-weekly (9 month period). Required to work the assigned schedule onsite and comply with the company’s timekeeping policy.
