Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. You will work closely with clients to assist them in daily activities, promote independence, and foster a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings, including residential homes.
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs and reporting any changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Engage clients in memory care activities to promote cognitive function and social interaction.
- Facilitate recreational activities that encourage participation and enhance social skills.
- Support clients in achieving their personal goals and objectives through tailored care plans.
- Perform heavy lifting as needed to assist clients with mobility or transfers safely.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Strong understanding of patient care principles, including memory care techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with physical mobility needs.
- Knowledge of vital sign monitoring and basic health assessment skills.
- Compassionate demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and their families.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while demonstrating patience and empathy.
- Previous experience in a nursing home or similar healthcare setting is a plus.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
