Vector Talent Solutions is a veteran-owned workforce solutions firm dedicated to helping organizations identify, attract, and hire top talent. We are currently seeking a PLC Maintenance & Programming Specialist for a client within the automotive manufacturing industry.
Position Overview
This position supports preventative and predictive maintenance activities to ensure production lines and plant equipment remain operational in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, PLC programming, PLC and control system support, and continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance. This is a technical role with strong exposure to automation systems and cross-functional collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, program, and modify PLCs, HMIs, motion controls, and electrical/mechanical systems to maintain equipment uptime and improve system performance.
- Develop, edit, and optimize PLC programs to support equipment upgrades, process improvements, and new equipment installations.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities and ensure PM work orders are completed on time.
- Analyze equipment downtime data and implement corrective actions and countermeasures to improve equipment reliability.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, blueprints, and ladder logic to support maintenance and equipment improvements.
- Support capital projects, equipment installations, system startups, and collaborate with vendors and contractors on automation projects.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to maintenance team members while assisting with complex automation and control system issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, LOTO procedures, and company standards including ISO and IATF.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of maintenance or controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting, programming, and modifying PLCs, preferably Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal.
- Experience with HMI programming, motion controls, industrial automation, and electrical control systems.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and OSHA safety standards.
- Experience supporting machine automation, production equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ERP systems such as SAP or VAATZ.
- Strong communication, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Compensation
$75,000 - $85,000 *plus per diem for every day worked*
