SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES
- Treat young adults, families, colleagues, stakeholders, and community members with respect, empathy, and dignity at all times.
- Uphold the principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) in all interactions with young adults, ensuring fidelity to the model of care.
- Ensure timely and effective communication with all stakeholders (family members, case workers, therapists, vendors, volunteers, etc.).
- Maintain confidential records by HIPAA and all regulatory standards.
- Maintain responsibility for the physical safety and cleanliness of the program, including personal offices/office spaces and shared spaces in the programs.
- Promptly report any household safety concerns to the Facilities Coordinator.
- Make fiscally responsible decisions that align with organizational policies, ensuring proper oversight and minimizing financial burdens on the organization.
- Adhere to all financial policies and procedures to maintain accountability and transparency.
- Ensure timesheets are up-to-date, accurate, and overtime is managed in a fiscally responsible way.
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide direct, trauma-informed care and supervision to young adults in a residential treatment setting, supporting safety, structure, and growth through relationship-based practice and consistent routines. This role upholds models of care, assists youth with daily living skills and program expectations, and ensures accurate documentation and communication regarding youth needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
In collaboration with the Residential and Coordination Teams:
- Provide trauma-informed care to youth through role-modeling positive adult conversations, self-regulation and conflict resolution; teaching and upholding program routines and expectations; and utilizing de-escalation and crisis support for youth in line with models of care.
- Ensure resident safety by monitoring and meeting basic needs, conducting room and electronics searches, urine screens, and activities of daily living within the program.
- Complete thorough documentation to include case notes, daily charts, and incident reports within the identified timeframes.
- Assist residents in learning and upholding program rules and expectations.
- Assist and supervise youth in completing daily routines and personal responsibilities.
- Identify, plan, lead and participate in activities for youth that align with program expectations and youths’ identified treatment areas.
- Create photo albums for all youth beginning at intake. Take and maintain photos to be gifted to youth at discharge.
- In collaboration with the coordination team, plan birthday and special occasion celebrations for youth.
- Safely administer medication as outlined by DCH’s policies and procedures.
- Uphold the daily schedule of the program, and follow shift plans as developed and communicated by Residential Coordinator(s) or other designee on shift.
- Provide safe transportation for youth as outlined in DCH’s policies and procedures.
- Document incidents with factual, objective, trauma-informed language in incident reports.
- Support monthly evacuation drills.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a human-service-related field or 12 credits toward a related degree and two years of residential experience or 7 years of parenting experience with a HS diploma or lived experience with a HS diploma required (experience can satisfy education requirements).
- One year of experience working with children, youth and families preferred.
- Valid Drivers’ License (3+ years), required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Work independently one-on-one or in small groups with all levels of internal staff.
- Regular interactions with external stakeholders (i.e. board members, vendors, community members, etc.).
- Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Ability to self-regulate emotionally and maintain composure in high-stress situations.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Relates information to diverse individuals orally and in writing.
- Must have good analytical abilities and be able to make decisions and follow instruction.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and use fine motor skills for typing.
- Continual talking, hearing/listening, as well as reaching with hands and arms.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Compliance with all personnel policies.
