The Speech-language Pathologist (SLP) organizes and provides speech, language, and swallowing intervention to facilitate rehabilitation and directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and/or enhance such performance. The SLP facilitates the learning of skills and functions essential for communication, cognitive-linguistic functions, and swallowing to diminish or remediate disorders or deficit. S/he directs activities to promote and maintain health within the Code of Ethics of the Profession.
