Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Decedent Transfer Specialist to join our compassionate team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for coordinating the respectful and efficient transfer of decedents from their place of passing to our funeral home. Your expertise in safe driving, adherence to transportation regulations, and excellent client communication skills will ensure dignified handling of sensitive situations. This is a unique and very important role within our organization as it is one of the very first impressions we have the opportunity to make with the loved one's family. Many of the transfers happen from a decedent's home if the person was on hospice or if the coroner has requested our services directly. Sensitivity, empathy, kindness, and a desire to make a difference in other's lives are all vital to this position.
Duties
- Safely operate a variety of professional vehicles such as vans, funeral coaches, and SUV vehicles to transfer decedents with care and professionalism
- Follow all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including traffic laws and safety standards
- Communicate effectively with families, funeral directors, and other clients to coordinate transfer schedules and provide updates as needed
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure safety and compliance
- Assist with manual handling tasks related to decedent transfer, ensuring dignity and respect at all times - heavy lifting can be involved at times.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to adhere to scheduled routes and optimize travel time on local routes
- Maintain detailed logs of transfers, vehicle condition reports, and client interactions for record-keeping purposes
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating passenger vans, limousines, or shuttle vehicles preferred
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and local driving routes
- Knowledge of state transportation regulations and safety protocols for transporting decedents
- Strong communication skills for interacting professionally with families and team members
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely when required
- Experience in medical transportation or paratransit services is highly desirable (This would be an excellent position for an off-duty EMT, firefighter, police officer)
- Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach during sensitive situations
- Maintenance knowledge for routine vehicle upkeep and troubleshooting

There are not set hours, and we do respond on an as needed basis, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Pay: $200.00 per day
