About Juan Diego Academy
Juan Diego Academy Catholic Regional High School is a faith-centered, college-preparatory Catholic high school committed to developing the whole student—mind, body, and spirit. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the traditions of the Catholic Church, Juan Diego Academy provides a rigorous academic program while fostering leadership, service, character development, and spiritual growth.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered Physical Education Teacher who is passionate about promoting lifelong fitness, healthy living, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a Catholic educational environment.
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction that promotes physical fitness, wellness, healthy lifestyles, and character development. The teacher will create a positive and safe learning environment while encouraging students to develop physical skills, teamwork, leadership, and personal responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Instructional Responsibilities
- Teach Physical Education courses to students in grades 9-12.
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards and school expectations
- Promote physical fitness, health awareness, teamwork, and sportsmanship
- Assess student performance and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment
- Student Engagement
- Foster positive relationships with students
- Encourage participation in school activities and wellness activities
- Promote leadership, discipline, and personal growth through physical education
- School responsibilities
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Assist with supervision duties as assigned
- Support the mission and Catholic identity of the school
- Attend major school events and fundraisers, including but not limited to the annual Golf Tournament and Gala
Additional Duties may include
- Serving as class sponsor, club sponsor, athletic support staff member, retreat chaperone, or other assigned duties as needed
- Collaborate with administration, faculty, parents, and coaches to support student success
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with high school students
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic Education
- Ability to pass required background checks and diocesan requirements
Preferred
- Texas Teaching Certification in Physical Education or willingness to obtain certification through an approved Alternative Certification Program (ACP)
- Previous teaching and/or coaching experience
- Experience working in a Catholic or faith-based educational environment
