Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON/DNS) to lead our nursing department at our skilled nursing facility in Portland, Oregon. As the DON, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing resident care, managing nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This leadership position demands a proactive, detail-oriented RN with a strong background in nursing management and a passion for delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of the entire nursing department.
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies and procedures to ensure high standards of care and regulatory compliance.
- Supervise and evaluate nursing staff including ADONs, RCMs, RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other clinical personnel.
- Coordinate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize resident outcomes.
- Ensure resident safety and dignity are always maintained.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, hiring, and training of nursing staff.
- Plan and deliver staff in-services and ongoing education.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Participate in Quality Assurance, Utilization Review, and care planning meetings.
- Manage the department’s budget, resources, and reporting requirements.
- Oversee coordination of MDS and resident care plans.
- Respond to survey findings and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in facility litigation processes when required.
- Provide direct nursing care when necessary.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oregon.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of nurse management experience, preferably in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting.
- In good standing with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (PointClickCare preferred).

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Regular walking, standing, sitting, and computer use required.
- Use of typical office and medical equipment.
