DOT Inspection Technician – Semi-Trailers

Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and experienced DOT Inspection Technician to perform inspections and basic maintenance on our semi-trailer fleet.
The primary focus of this position is identifying safety and maintenance issues, completing DOT inspections, documenting findings, and helping ensure trailers remain safe, compliant, and ready for service.
This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with experience in semi-trailer maintenance, fleet maintenance, DOT inspections, or heavy equipment repair.
Key Responsibilities
● Perform DOT inspections on semi-trailers in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
● Inspect trailer brakes, tires, wheels, lights, electrical systems, suspension, air lines, coupling components, and other safety-related equipment.
● Identify and document defects, damage, and out-of-service conditions.
● Complete minor repairs and adjustments when appropriate.
● Determine when equipment requires additional maintenance or repair.
● Clearly document inspection results and repairs performed.
● Maintain accurate inspection and compliance records.
● Communicate equipment status and repair needs to operations and maintenance personnel.
● Help ensure trailers are returned to service safely and efficiently.
● Maintain a clean and safe work area.
● Follow all company and facility safety procedures.
Qualifications
● Previous experience with semi-trailer maintenance, DOT inspections, fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment repair preferred.
● Working knowledge of trailer brake systems, tires, lighting, electrical systems, suspension, and air systems.
● Ability to identify common DOT safety defects and out-of-service conditions.
● Comfortable using hand and power tools.
● Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
● Ability to work independently during an overnight shift.
● Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
● Reliable attendance and punctuality.
● Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with inspecting and servicing semi-trailers.

Pay: $24.50 - $26.50 per hour
