The Budget Analyst will assist in the preparation and coordination of the City’s annual budget and will participate in the preparation of the long-range forecast. Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintenance of the City’s general ledger in connection with the proper recording of revenues and expenses, analysis and review of financial transactions in preparation of the quarterly and annual financial reports, and reconciliation of various accounts. The Budget Analyst will participate in various department core functions such as annual budget, year-end audit and CAFR preparation as well as assist periodically in reviewing and/or updating financial procedures for accuracy and completeness. Special projects may be assigned on an as needed basis.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have ability to effectively communicate and maintain effective working relationships with employees, department directors, city management and elected officials. Must be detail oriented and able to accomplish duties in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. Must have positive attitude and be able to learn new tasks quickly. Required to be a team builder/player, work independently without constant supervision, multi-task, troubleshoot and problem solve. Strong working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing systems is essential. A general knowledge of accounting and financial reporting is expected.
