Please note: The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.
This position will be located at St. Joe State Park, 2800 Pimville Road, Park Hills, MO. 63601. Shifts are primarily Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Position will require working a minimum of one weekend a month during the on season. Must be available to participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars requiring overnight stays.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
- Responsible for performing semi-skilled work in facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, the construction and repair of buildings and trail systems, and occasionally assist in the operation of the water/wastewater systems at St. Joe State Park and Missouri Mines State Historic Site.
- Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, and mechanical repair.
- Perform facility maintenance and upkeep according to facility plans including vehicle and equipment maintenance, routine preventive maintenance, grounds keeping, and routine cleaning of buildings and structures.
- Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
- Assist with stewardship of resources, both natural and cultural. Participate in controlled burns, invasive plant removal and other resource management related projects. Participate in on / off-site controlled burns at other parks in the unit, and/or to help meet Region or Statewide management goals.
- Communicate openly and effectively with the public, external stakeholders, supervisors and subordinates.
- Maintain a working knowledge of park rules, regulations, procedures and policies. Attend mandatory and other trainings including overnight stays to learn new or enhance existing skills.
- Purchase operating supplies, parts and project materials as necessary. Become familiar with and follow all procurement rules and procedures.
Qualifications - All you need for success
- This position may be required to obtain and maintain water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certification. If required and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given twelve months to obtain necessary license/certification.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- 1-3 years of experience in any of the following trade areas: electrical, plumbing, concrete, and masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
