Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C)
100% Remote | Full-Time or Part-Time | Contract
The HIMpros is seeking an experienced Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) to join our team. This is a remote contract opportunity available on either a full-time or part-time basis for a detail-oriented oncology professional with experience abstracting cancer cases and ensuring compliance with national cancer registry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Abstract and code cancer cases in accordance with CoC, SEER, NPCR, and state registry requirements.
- Accurately collect and enter demographic, diagnostic, treatment, staging, and follow-up information into the cancer registry.
- Review pathology reports, operative notes, physician documentation, and other medical records to ensure complete and accurate case abstraction.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards while meeting established turnaround times.
- Stay current with SEER, CoC, AJCC, Solid Tumor Rules, and Hematopoietic & Lymphoid Neoplasm coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with registry leadership and clinical teams to ensure data integrity and compliance.
Qualifications
- Active ODS-C (Certified Oncology Data Specialist) certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent oncology data abstraction experience.
- Strong knowledge of SEER, CoC, AJCC staging, Solid Tumor Rules, and Hematopoietic & Lymphoid Neoplasm coding.
- Experience with electronic medical records and cancer registry software.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
- High-speed internet and a secure, HIPAA-compliant home office.
