Job purpose:
This position manages all activities associated with the manufacturing/production department for the facility. She or he is responsible for people and team development, motivating the team and ensuring quality performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all daily activities of the production and operation teams including production Scheduling
- Delegates production assignments to appropriate teams and personnel
- Implements and modifies procedures to ensure production of quality products
- Estimating and reviewing costs and monitoring and documenting process controls.
- Supervising and motivating teams of workers.
- Promotes safety in the work area by understanding and complying with safety procedures and reporting all accidents in a timely manner.
- Directs employees with respect and courtesy.
- Notifies Maintenance of equipment problems and breakdowns.
- Reviews QA and production records.
- Reviews quarterly Food Safety audits, and develops and implements corrective action.
- Meets regularly with direct reports to set goals and monitor progress toward goals.
- Manages all aspects of regulatory compliance including knowledge of standards, documents, audits, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 5+ years plant management roles
- Previous experience in food production/manufacturing is necessary
- Experience with portion control packaging equipment necessary
- Extensive experience with production and processing equipment
- Able to lead and manage a diverse employee base
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Position will frequent the production floor, so operating in standard seasonal warehouse and food processing plant temperature conditions will be required. Work is completed in a facility where nuts, fruits and other allergens are present.
