About the Organization

The Phlebotomist demonstrates skill in pediatric phlebotomy and skin puncture techniques following all patient care and department policy and procedure guidelines. Acts as a primary laboratory representative to the patient. Is responsible for a timely and accurate collection of clinically acceptable specimens with proper identification of all patient information and transporting, processing and storing the laboratory specimens.

Performs lab draws, heel sticks, etc.

Uses appropriate patient identifiers.

Maintains a working knowledge of both the laboratory and hospital information systems and tools.

Provides dispatching or coordinating of collections and performs procedures in a standardized, accurate manner.

Knowledge of the parameters of acceptability and critical values.

Expected to perform other duties as required or assigned.

Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:30a - 5p or 9a - 5:30p. The scheduled start and end times require flexibility to meet the needs of the practice.
Education Requirements

High School Diploma - or - GED
Experience

A minimum of one year in pediatric phlebotomy training/experience in a clinical or laboratory setting is preferred.
Required Licenses:

BLS Certification by the American Heart Association (must be obtained within 30 days of hire date)
