Fast-Track Your Trades Career: From Installation Helper to Lead Carpenter in 1 Year
Looking for steady, full-time construction work, a paid carpentry apprenticeship, and real career advancement instead of another dead-end general labor job?
At Exterior Custom Solutions, we run dedicated 2-man installation crews. You will work 1-on-1 every single day alongside an experienced lead carpenter and master installer with a proven track record of training entry-level helpers and construction laborers into independent lead installers in under 12 months. If you are dependable, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn residential finish carpentry, custom window replacement, and exterior door installation, we provide the steady year-round work, hands-on training, and fast-track promotion path to run your own crew.
What You Bring to the Crew
Basic hands-on experience using standard carpentry hand tools and power tools (drills, impact drivers, miter saws, circular saws, and reciprocating saws).
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately down to the 1/16th of an inch.
Strong mechanical aptitude, physical stamina (ability to safely lift and carry 50+ lbs), and a desire to learn residential remodeling, rough framing, and trim carpentry.
Reliability, punctuality, a valid driver’s license, and a clean, professional attitude on residential job sites.
Prior experience in general construction, finish carpentry, maintenance, framing, roofing, or trades helper roles is a plus, but we will fully train the right motivated individual.
What We Offer
Consistent Year-Round Schedule: Full-time, 40+ hours per week with zero winter or seasonal layoffs.
Hours: Monday–Friday daytime shift with regular overtime (OT)
Competitive Compensation: Reliable hourly base pay plus overtime rates.
100% Paid Travel: Paid drive time in company work trucks and vans from the shop to client job sites.
Full Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid time off (PTO), and paid holidays.
Accelerated Advancement: Direct path to earn your own truck, run a 2-man crew, and transition from helper wages to lead installer pay within your first year.
What You’ll Master on the Job
Window Replacement & Glazing: Pocket window inserts, full-frame tear-outs, double-hung units, casements, sliders, and bay/bow window installations.
Door Installation: Pre-hung exterior entry doors, front entry systems, sliding patio doors, French doors, storm doors, threshold leveling, sill pans, and locksets.
Finish Carpentry & Millwork: Interior casing, jamb extensions, stool and apron trim, shimming, plumb/level/square alignment, and pneumatic nail gun operation.
Weatherproofing & Air Sealing: Flashing tape application, low-expansion polyurethane foam insulation, exterior silicone caulking, and water-resistive barriers.
Custom Metal Trim Bending: Measuring, cutting, scoring, bending, and capping exterior wood components using a portable aluminum brake.
Job Site Operations: Safe demolition, structural rough opening prep, lead-safe practices, and clean daily tear-down.
Our Core Values
Workmanship: Pride, tight reveals, square installs, and high-standard finish carpentry on every home.
Integrity: Honest, dependable work ethic that our crew and homeowners can count on.
Nurture: Dedicated 1-on-1 mentorship, continuous trade skill training, and clear communication.
Drive: High energy, urgency, and continuous improvement every single day.
