We are seeking an organized, hands-on Production Manager to help lead our manufacturing team and ensure projects move efficiently through every stage of production.
Position Summary
The Production Manager oversees the daily operation of Berkeley Mills' production floor. This individual coordinates employees, monitors workflow, maintains production schedules, and helps ensure every project meets Berkeley Mills' standards for craftsmanship, efficiency, and quality.
This is a working leadership position. The ideal candidate is comfortable supervising employees while remaining actively involved in cabinet and furniture production.
Responsibilities: Production Management
- Supervise daily shop operations and production workflow.
- Coordinate machining, cabinet construction, furniture assembly, sanding, and final assembly.
- Assign work to employees based on production priorities.
- Monitor production schedules and help ensure projects are completed on time.
- Communicate production progress to management.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and support production employees.
- Train new team members on shop procedures and equipment.
- Provide coaching and constructive feedback.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with employee performance evaluations.
Quality Control
- Inspect work throughout production for accuracy and quality.
- Verify dimensions, joinery, hardware installation, and assembly.
- Help maintain Berkeley Mills' standards of craftsmanship.
- Identify production issues before they affect delivery schedules.
Shop Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Monitor shop supplies, tooling, and production materials.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance with management.
- Assist with inventory organization and material handling.
Safety
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards.
- Ensure employees use equipment safely and correctly.
- Promote safe housekeeping throughout the shop.
- Report hazards and recommend improvements.
Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, project management, purchasing, finishing, and installation teams.
- Assist in resolving production challenges.
- Help improve manufacturing processes and workflow.
- Support successful completion of custom cabinetry and furniture projects.
Qualifications Required
- 3+ years of experience in custom cabinetry, furniture manufacturing, architectural millwork, or woodworking.
- 1+ years of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of cabinet construction and woodworking techniques.
- Ability to read shop drawings and production documents.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience operating CNC routers, edge banders, panel saws, or other woodworking machinery.
- Familiarity with Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar software.
- Experience with lean manufacturing or production scheduling.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
