Offering supervision for student/graduate counselors, psychological associates/psychology students, and social work students that require supervision for licensure purposes.
Primary Role:
The incumbent assumes responsibility for the provision of mental health services to patients/clients who are seen on an outpatient basis in the Outpatient Mental Health Center under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PsyD) to gain hours towards the State licensure requirements or academic requirements. The incumbent completes thorough psychosocial assessments as part of the consult process when the individual is initially referred to the Mental Health Center as well as therapy for each patient on their caseload.
Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are limited to:
- Completes thorough psychosocial assessments
- Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team
- Mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses, common medications and their effects/side effects
- Facilitate discharge planning through collaboration with Veterans and their families
- Independently implement treatment modalities, provide counseling and/or supportive groups
- Provide consultation and education to patients/clients and their families regarding community resources, benefits and specialty programs, and advance directives
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Receive supervision in adherence to the State of Maryland’s supervision requirements.

· Must be actively enrolled in an academic institution or hold a license that requires supervision
