We are looking for a veterinary receptionist to join our team. This position is one of the most important positions for our hospital as the receptionist often is the person who sets the impression and tone for interacting with our clients. Due to the nature of the business, it is a demanding position which can be both emotionally rewarding but also stressful at times. Over the years we have served many clients who feel like friends and family, but as anyone knows who has worked with the public there will always be some folks who present a challenge.
The ideal candidate will need to have excellent listening and communication skills. The largest part of your duties will be interacting with the clients to meet their needs. You will be scheduling appointments, documenting concerns, and acting as the liaison between the clients, the veterinarian, and the veterinary staff. Having a familiarity with veterinary terminology is a plus. You will need to adhere to all privacy laws, veterinary medical and safety laws and standards, as well as DEA regulations. We expect you to always present yourself in a professional manner. Everyone pitches in to help clean whenever and wherever it is needed. You will also be using veterinary software and handling transactions. Being able to greet and relate to clients in a warm and engaging manner is a quality we are seeking. We all appreciate a good sense of humor as well.
Hours may have a little flexibility, but we are looking for someone who can work from 730 am until at least 1 pm M, T, Th, and F. The schedule rotates on Wednesday and Saturday. You would be expected to work 1 or 2 Wednesdays and Saturdays monthly with closing times typically around 1-2 pm.
