Harris Hands Community Services, Inc. seeks a Direct Support Professional/ Driver for our Without Walls Day Habilitation Program. The ideal candidate must be reliable and maintain a positive and professional attitude while fostering a supportive environment, and enjoy supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in a community-based setting. They must document provided services accurately and efficiently, and utilize computer skills to enter data into the online database system (Therap).
Qualifications for this position must include:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Must pass all OPWDD background tests
- Must have clean and valid NYS Driver's License
- Must be able to drive a 15-passenger van, with three years experience driving a van
- Must be compassionate and excited about working with the ID/DD population
- Must be creative, a team player, flexible, have conflict resolution skills, and be able to complete paperwork on time
- Must be willing and able to work overtime if and when necessary
Additional Qualifications include:
- Strong reliability and compassionate approach to care
- Making sure all individuals are engaging in daily activities
- Effective reading and writing skills for documentation
- Proficiency in computer usage to manage program records
- Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
- May have to lift more than 15lbs and may have to provide post toileting assistance to adults when necessary.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Mandatory overtime for supplemental day habilitation when/if necessary
- 1 Saturday a month for meetings/trainings
There is no overnight shift available. Employees may be asked to work mandatory overtime. Serious inquiries only.
