QUALIFICATIONS: Active Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse License; Current CPR certification. Ability and maturity to deal harmoniously and effectively with District staff, parents and students.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 days as stipulated in the Support Staff Contract
DESCRIPTION: The Associate Nurse is employed to function under the direction of the Certified School Nurses (CSN) to implement assigned and delegated duties of the CSN’s and school health program. Ability to follow directions and carry out assignments with minimum assistance from superiors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the guidance and supervision of the District CSN’s, provides care to pupils and staff, in accordance with current medical best practice, nursing standards, relevant statutes, state regulations and District policies.
- May be assigned to work in various school locations, as directed by Building Principals or Directors of Curriculum and Instruction.
- Engages in direct communication as needed, whether in-person, via email, or by phone, with a District CSN when performing duties or responsibilities that have been delegated to him/her.
- Accepts, administers, monitors and records medications according to written District procedures [when applicable] and standards of nursing practice.
- Assists with school health screenings, examinations and other health programs as directed.
- Answers phones, assists in general building communications, and communicates with parents concerning specific student health issues.
- Performs clerical and computer work/data entry via the Skyward platform pertaining to student health records and health services. Specifically, the Associate Nurse will perform all immunization data entry District-wide with reference to inputting the data into the student information management platform (Skyward) and completing the annual School Immunization Law Report (SILR) under the supervision of a CSN.
- Performs additional duties as directed by the Building Principal(s) or the Directors of Curriculum and Instruction.
