Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Computer Science Teacher role located in Bellevue, WA. The teacher will design and deliver computer science lessons that introduce fundamental concepts, coding skills, and computational thinking to students in small group or class settings. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and preparing lessons, teaching in-person classes, guiding students through exercises and projects, and assessing student progress. The role involves adapting instruction for different skill levels, maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom, and communicating regularly with academy staff and caregivers about student learning. The teacher will also contribute to curriculum refinement and participate in occasional academy events or workshops.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science and related STEM disciplines.
- Skills in Computer Science Education and Lesson Planning for diverse learners.
- Experience with Curriculum Development in technology or STEM subjects.
- Comfort with Mathematics concepts relevant to introductory programming and algorithms.
- Previous teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience, preferably with K–12 or early college students.
- Ability to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment for students from varied backgrounds.
- Clear, patient communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts in accessible language.
- Familiarity with common programming languages or environments used in introductory courses (e.g., Scratch, Python, AI) is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Willingness to work onsite in Bellevue, WA during after-school hours and/or weekends as needed.
Pay: $40.00 - $100.00 per hour
