Position Summary
Are you looking for a meaningful position where you can directly impact the lives of rescue animals and thrive within a supportive, passion-driven team environment? If so, the Animal Care Technician position at Paws4ever might be the perfect fit for you. The ACT is responsible for providing quality care for the animals at the Paws4ever Adoption Center. This includes proper nutrition, medication administration, exercise, enrichment, and lots of attention. In this role, you will maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that complies with state and county requirements. Beyond direct animal care, you will also act as a vital customer service representative, welcoming potential adopters, match-making pets and people, and answering inquiries with a professional and friendly demeanor.
Responsibilities
- Animal Health & Nutrition: Feed all animals according to their specific dietary requirements and replace water. Administer medications following veterinary protocols, maintain accurate health records, and report any medical changes to the Adoption Center Manager.
- Sanitation & Facility Care: Thoroughly clean and sanitize cat and dog habitats daily in accordance with SOPs and Department of Agriculture animal welfare laws. Maintain cleanliness through daily laundry and dishwashing.
- Enrichment & Training: Provide a stimulating environment by focusing on socialization and enrichment tailored to each animal's unique personality. Perform basic grooming as needed.
- Customer Service & Adoptions: Lead meet-and-greets with potential adopters and assist through the adoption process. Deliver excellent communication in person, over the phone, and via email to visitors and donors.
- Daily Operations: Assist in transporting animals to veterinary appointments or from county shelters. Work alongside volunteers, monitor safety policies, accept donations, and submit shift reports.
Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience working with animals in a professional or volunteer setting (e.g., shelter, clinic, daycare, or boarding) is highly preferred but not required.
- Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to carefully follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures for animal care and handling.
- Schedule: One shift per weekend and select holidays as needed
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects (like food bags), stand for long periods, and handle dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
