What You'll Do
As a Driver Education Instructor, you may teach classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, or both, depending on your qualifications and certification.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach driver education courses in the classroom and/or vehicle
- Create an engaging, positive, and interactive learning environment
- Teach safe driving techniques, traffic laws, defensive driving, and responsible decision-making
- Coach students as they develop safe driving habits and confidence behind the wheel
- Provide constructive feedback and communicate student progress to students and parents
- Follow All Star Driver Education's established curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials
- Maintain a professional, patient, and safety-focused learning environment
- Demonstrate professionalism and serve as a positive role model for student drivers
- Maintain accurate student and instructional records as required

Qualifications

- Able to maintain a safe driving record
- Able to successfully complete required background, physical, and drug screening requirements
- Willing and able to complete the required instructor certification process
Prior teaching experience is helpful but not required. We provide training and instructional support to help qualified candidates become successful driver education instructors.
Instructor Preparation Program (IPP)

The Instructor Preparation Program (IPP) consists of four required 45-hour modules designed to prepare candidates for state certification as a Driver Education Instructor:
Module 501 – Driver Task Analysis
Learn the knowledge, skills, and decision-making processes required for safe driving.
Module 502 – Developing Classroom Instructional Knowledge
Develop effective teaching techniques, lesson planning, communication, and classroom management skills.
Module 503 – Developing Vehicle Operational Skills
Build advanced driving skills and learn effective techniques for behind-the-wheel instruction.
Module 504 – Student Teaching Practicum
Gain supervised, hands-on experience teaching both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction.
Upon successful completion of all four modules, candidates will meet the educational requirements for state certification as a Driver Education Instructor, subject to applicable state requirements.
