The Role
LA Construction Group is seeking to immediately hire an experienced Preconstruction Coordinator to help move commercial projects from contract award to construction readiness.
This role is for someone who understands commercial construction, specifically large interior fit outs; not just paperwork. You'll review drawings and specifications, coordinate RFIs and submittals, track permits and approvals, identify long-lead items, procure materials along side our Jr. Preconstruction Coordinator and work closely with Project Managers to make sure projects are ready before they reach the field.
Our portfolio includes institutional, aviation, universities, condominiums, retailers, and other complex commercial work.
What You'll Do
- Review drawings and specifications for missing information, conflicts, and coordination issues
- Prepare, route, and track RFIs through resolution
- Develop and maintain submittal schedules and coordinate the submittal process
- Identify long-lead materials and track required approval, release, and delivery dates
- Coordinate permitting and agency requirements
- Maintain current drawings, specifications, addenda, revisions, and project documentation
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and our Project Managers.
- Assist with vendor/subcontractor pricing, scope clarification, and quote comparisons
- Track outstanding decisions, approvals, selections, and procurement items
- Maintain accurate project information and preconstruction logs in JobTread
- Prepare projects for formal turnover to the Operations team
- Proactively identify issues that could delay mobilization or impact construction
Minimum Requirements for this role:
- 3+ years of commercial construction experience in a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Preconstruction Coordinator, or similar role
- Strong ability to read and understand commercial construction drawings and specifications
- Hands-on experience with RFIs, submittals, procurement, and construction documentation
- Working knowledge of commercial construction sequencing and coordination
- Experience communicating with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple active projects and deadlines
- Strong written communication and follow-through
- Comfortable identifying problems, asking questions, and chasing outstanding information until it is resolved
- Experience with construction management software; JobTread experience is a plus
Experience with institutional, university, aviation, public-agency, or other complex commercial projects is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
