Structural Steel Project Manager

ETC Fabrication is looking for a competent, organized Structural Steel Project Manager to take ownership of managing projects from sales through fabrication, delivery, billing, and closeout.
We fabricate structural steel, stairs, handrails, mezzanines, and miscellaneous steel components for commercial and industrial projects.
This is not a basic administrative position. We are looking for someone who can read construction drawings, understand the fabrication process, communicate effectively with contractors and vendors, manage multiple projects, and take ownership of day-to-day project execution.
What You’ll Do;
Preconstruction
- Review structural and architectural drawings and specifications
- Review material and labor takeoffs
- Request and review material and subcontractor pricing
- Follow up on outstanding bids
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and project risks
Project Management
- Set up awarded projects and maintain project files
- Manage RFIs, submittals, revisions, and drawing approvals
- Coordinate with general contractors, owners, engineers, vendors, and the fabrication shop
- Track project schedules and required delivery dates
- Manage change orders and additional-work documentation
- Coordinate material purchasing and delivery
- Monitor project costs and committed expenses
- Help keep projects on schedule and within budget
Shop Drawings & Detailing
- Coordinate preparation of shop drawings
- Manage outside steel detailers when used
- Track drawing revisions and approvals
- Work with ownership and shop personnel to resolve fabrication questions
Billing & Financial Coordination
- Prepare customer invoices, pay applications, and billing documentation
- Track retainage and change-order billing
- Organize accounts payable documentation and job-related vendor invoices
- Assist ownership with job-cost tracking and cost-to-complete information
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have experience with shop drawings, blueprint reading, structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous metals, commercial construction, or a closely related field.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Ability to read structural and architectural construction drawings
- Experience estimating structural steel or miscellaneous metals
- Experience managing construction or fabrication projects
- Experience with Bluebeam or similar takeoff software
- Ability to perform on-site field verification when necessary
- Understanding of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction contracts
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Comfortable communicating directly with general contractors, engineers, vendors, and shop personnel
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to take ownership and solve problems without constant direction
- Ability to handle difficult conversations, conflict, and project problems professionally and directly

Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications
Pay: $52,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
