Job Summary
The Entry-Level Data Center Technician supports the installation and maintenance of structured cabling, fiber infrastructure, equipment, and pathway systems within critical data center environments. This contract-to-hire position provides hands-on training and mentorship with opportunities for long-term career development in the telecommunications and low voltage industry. The technician will support infrastructure projects involving fiber and copper cabling, cable management, equipment installation, rack buildouts, material handling, and outside plant (OSP) installations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, punctuality, teamwork, and professional communication.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform cable infrastructure and fiber rough-in installations.
- Dress, route, organize, and label cabling according to project requirements.
- Perform cable and fiber termination.
- Rack and stack customer equipment.
- Build server racks and complete rack elevations.
- Install fiber trays, ladder racks, power trays, cabinets, and related infrastructure.
- Perform pathway and conveyance system installations.
- Receive materials and assemble required hardware.
- Perform outside plant (OSP) installations, including routing fiber into data center facilities.
- Read and follow blueprints, drawings, and installation specifications.
- Follow written and verbal instructions and communicate professionally with colleagues and management.
- Follow established safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), jobsite housekeeping, and OSHA guidelines.
Job Requirements
- 0-2 years of data center technician, structured cabling, telecommunications, low voltage, electrical, or related experience.
- Cabling or conveyance experience, including pathway buildout or installation, is preferred; electrical apprentice experience may also be considered.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints, drawings, and installation instructions.
- Strong work ethic with an emphasis on reliability, punctuality, and long-term career development.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and communicate professionally.
- Ability to work on ladders and/or scissor lifts and in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to safely use basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose pliers, channel-lock pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, gloves, tool pouch, and steel-toe or composite-toe work boots.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)
- Must be willing to work overtime as required, potentially including 6-7 days per week and 10-12-hour shifts.
- Must be willing to commute between assigned project locations within the local market.
- Must be open to travel outside the local market to support other project teams as needed.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of the position.
