Overview
Join our dynamic team as the Parks and Recreation - Aquatics Manager, where you will be responsible for the leadership, administration, and daily operations of the City's Aquatic Center. This position oversees facility operations, staff supervision, maintenance, safety, aquatic programming, customer service, and regulatory compliance while ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all patrons. The Manager develops and supervises aquatic staff, manages facility resources, and supports the planning and delivery of aquatic programs, special events, and community engagement initiatives. As a member of the Parks and Recreation management team, this position contributes to departmental goals and strategic initiatives. During the off-season, responsibilities transition to supporting Community Enrichment programs, park operations, facility management, recreational programming, City-sponsored events, and other departmental needs as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Leadership & Administration
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Aquatic Center.
- Recruit, supervise, schedule, train, mentor, and evaluate aquatic staff.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to support safe and efficient operations.
- Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and customer service.
- Respond to emergencies and oversee implementation of emergency action procedures.
- Prepare reports, maintain operational records, and communicate recommendations for continuous improvement.
Staff Development & Compliance
- Ensure staff maintain required certifications and compliance with American Red Cross and departmental standards.
- Coordinate certification courses, in-service training, continuing education, and skills evaluations.
- Monitor employee performance and administer coaching, mentoring, and corrective action as appropriate.
- Ensure rescue, first aid, and emergency equipment is maintained and operational.
Facility Operations
- Monitor water chemistry and ensure compliance with state and local health regulations.
- Oversee pool filtration systems, mechanical equipment, and preventative maintenance.
- Conduct routine facility inspections and promptly address safety concerns.
- Perform minor repairs and coordinate coordinate maintenance with City staff and outside contractors.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and attractive aquatic facility including pools, restrooms, locker rooms, and surrounding grounds.
Programs & Customer Service
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate aquatic programs, swim lessons, facility rentals, and special events.
- Respond to customer concerns and resolve issues professionally.
- Assist with registrations, reservations, fee collection, and event logistics.
- Maintain program participation records and operational statistics.
Inventory & Purchasing
- Manage inventory and procurement of chemicals, supplies, equipment, concessions, and merchandise.
- Monitor equipment condition and recommend replacement or capital improvement needs.
Community Enrichment Support
- Support Community Enrichment programs, recreational programming, park operations, facility rentals, and City-sponsored events during the off-season.
- Collaborate with Parks and Recreation staff to achieve department goals and enhance community engagement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Parks Management, Sports Management, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in aquatic operations, recreation Management, or a related field. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Valid Texas Class C Driver License or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Special Requirements
Certified Pool Operator (CPO); American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid; American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI), American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer (LGIT), American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI), American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT).
Physical Requirements
Lift, carry, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds. Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, reach, and work for extended periods. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to heat, humidity, cold, and inclement weather.

Pay: $40,974.76 - $61,462.15 per year
