bout the Role
Kent Scientific is seeking a Strategic Raw Materials Purchaser & Pricing Manager to lead raw material procurement, supplier management, product costing, and pricing analysis activities across the organization.
This role is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, components, and manufacturing supplies that support Kent Scientific's product lines and Design Engineering Solutions (DES) projects. The position will focus heavily on supplier relationships, material cost management, pricing analysis, and strategic sourcing initiatives that improve profitability while ensuring continuity of supply.
The ideal candidate is an experienced procurement professional who understands manufacturing environments, supplier negotiations, material costing, and market pricing trends. This individual will work closely with engineering, operations, accounting, and leadership teams to support business growth and operational efficiency.
Raw Material Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
- Generate Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and Purchase Orders for raw materials, components, and manufacturing supplies.
- Develop sourcing strategies to ensure cost-effective and reliable supply of materials.
- Identify, qualify, and manage supplier relationships.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and contractual terms.
- Evaluate supplier performance related to quality, delivery, service, and cost.
- Monitor supply market conditions and identify alternative suppliers when needed.
- Manage supplier risk and continuity of supply initiatives.
Material Costing & Pricing Analysis
- Analyze raw material pricing trends and supplier cost structures.
- Develop and maintain material cost databases and pricing records.
- Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Support product costing and pricing decisions through detailed cost analysis.
- Monitor gross margin impacts related to material costs.
- Provide leadership with recommendations regarding pricing adjustments and sourcing strategies.
Supplier & Market Intelligence
- Research market conditions and pricing trends for metals, plastics, electronics, packaging, and other manufacturing materials.
- Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation and strategic partnerships.
- Track commodity and material cost fluctuations affecting product profitability.
- Support supplier negotiations through cost benchmarking and market analysis.
Systems & Operational Support
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to manage purchasing, supplier information, and material costs.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and costing records.
- Develop reports and dashboards using Microsoft Excel.
- Support material forecasting and purchasing planning activities.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on sourcing and material selection decisions.
Electrophysiological Product Assembly Support
- Support procurement and sourcing activities for electrophysiological and scientific instrumentation product lines.
- Source raw materials, electronic components, assemblies, and manufacturing supplies used in product assembly and production.
- Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure materials are available to support assembly schedules and customer demand.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships for electronic, mechanical, and custom components.
- Analyze component costs and identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining product quality and reliability.
- Assist with product costing and pricing decisions for electrophysiological products and related assemblies.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify equivalent or substitute components when supply chain disruptions occur.
- Support new product introductions by sourcing components and establishing supplier relationships for new assemblies and manufacturing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience sourcing electronic, mechanical, and technical components.
- Experience supporting the assembly or manufacturing of scientific instrumentation, medical devices, or electronic products.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and component specifications.
- Familiarity with low-volume, high-mix manufacturing and new product introductions.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Experience with BOM management and product costing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
- Experience sourcing technical, mechanical, or electronic components.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain best practices.
- Experience supporting custom-engineered or low-volume manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.
