Position Summary:
The Chemical Technician is responsible for ensuring the production of high-quality demineralized water, monitoring boiler chemistry, wastewater operations, and maintenance activities in a fossil fuel power plant. This position requires technical and analytical expertise to support the operation and performance of critical plant systems, ensure compliance with environmental regulations, and maintain plant efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance:
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance activities, including lubrication and equipment adjustments.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related field with a minimum of 12 semester hours in chemistry.
Experience (Preferred):
- Prior experience in boiler/water analysis.
- Knowledge and experience in water treatment plant operations and the production of deionized water.
- Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with analytical methods and techniques, including calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of proper analytical techniques and laboratory practices.
- Ability to recognize changes in color for titrations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, overtime, and respond to urgent call-outs.
