Position Title: Security Guard/Door Monitor
Reports To: Administrator or Appointed Designee
W/H Class: Hourly
The primary purpose of this position is to:
- Provide increased supervision and security.
- Greet all,visitors, staff and residents upon entering or leaving.
- Ensure that all facility policies and procedures for resident pass are maintained.
- Provide support and assistance during behavioral emergencies.
- Monitor all persons entering the facility.
- In the absence of the receptionist, act as the initial contact for all visitors and provide assistance as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have a good speaking voice and excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- . Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the gen ral pub ic.
- Must possess leadership and the willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Must be physically capable of effectively hearing, seeing, speaking and writing.
- Must be able to physically and emotionally assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Level II (Moderate exposure risk - Tasks assigned to this position may involve limited or indirect exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants and/or hazardous chemicals).

- Assisting in the management of behavioral emergencies through the use of standard de escalation techniques and/or non- violent crisis intervention (CPI) as needed.
- Assisting in the management of any other emergency situations including, but not limited to: fire, medical, weather related, and police.
- Participate in trainings and in-services related to facility rules and regulations and facility
policies. This includes training in non-violent physical crisis intervention techniques (CPI).
- Training in Code White policy and Code "W" policy.
- Demonstration of good judgment under stress, emotional stability, tact, reliability and an ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Maintain professional and respectful interactions with co-workers and residents.
- Maintain compliance with facility safety regulations and administrative guidelines for employee behavior.
- Ability to work well within the context of a Long-term Care Facility.
- Answer phones in a friendly and timely manner in the absence of the receptionist. Must speak clearly so as to be easily understood. Proper grammar must be used at all times.
- Accurately direct phone calls to the appropriate party in the absence of the receptionist and take messages. Assure that they are forwarded to the appropriate party in a timely manner.
- Greet all residents, visitors, vendors, inspectors and staff in a friendly, helpful manner
- Maintain the reception area in a clean orderly fashion.
- Report needed equipment, supplies to supervisor.
- Ensure all HIPPA compliance policies and procedures are followed and maintained.
- Ensure the resident/employee environment is as free from accidents and hazards as is possible. Immediately correct/address potential safety risks as prudent and warranted.
- Ensure that all elements of the facility's Abuse & Neglect policies are maintained and enforced as is possible.
- Ensure that all policies and procedures for resident pass are strictly enforced (i.e. Pass time restrictions; wandering resident list, wandering resident/resident elopement picture list/pictures; pass restriction lists; failure to return from pass timely procedures, sign in/out procedures, etc).
- Ensure all emergency and disaster procedures are followed as appropriate (i.e. fire, door alarm, code white, missing resident, tornado, etc).
- All other duties as assigned.
