Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optometrist to join our small but busy practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and expertise in ophthalmology and optical services. This role offers the opportunity to plans, in a patient-centered environment. The Optometrist will work closely with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, ensuring optimal vision health and customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and eye health using advanced diagnostic tools.
- Diagnose and manage ocular conditions, including refractive errors, glaucoma, and other eye diseases.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and contact lenses based on patient needs.
- Provide patient education on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records utilizing EMR/EHR systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Perform vital signs assessments and utilize physiology and anatomy knowledge during examinations.
- Implement aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure patient safety and infection control.
- Collaborate with optical staff to recommend appropriate eyewear solutions and assist in sales efforts when appropriate.
- Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology, medical terminology, and coding practices related to eye care services.
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards related to patient care and medical records management.
Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited program.
- Valid state licensure to practice as an Optometrist.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Experience with optical devices, pediatric eye care, and patient-centered approaches.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems, medical coding, and understanding of HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Ability to perform detailed eye examinations while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
- Knowledge of medical records management, vital signs assessment, and aseptic techniques required for clinical procedures.
