Summary:
Perform layout inspection of parts, assemblies, inspection fixtures, and gauges using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and other appropriate measurement devices. This role requires mechanical inspection experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and CMM operation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.
1. Perform inspections on manufactured parts to verify hole locations, contour measurements, and overall geometry conform to print specifications using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
2. Adhere to customer layout standards and inspection methodologies.
3. Accurately document inspection and test results.
4. Create, edit, and maintain CMM dimensional inspection programs.
5. Develop program setup and execution documentation.
6. Evaluate quality issues and report findings to the Quality Control Supervisor and/or Engineering Manager.
7. Investigate instances of mismeasurement by identifying, researching, analyzing, and reporting measurement issues.
8. Comply with all aspects of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
9. Certify that product has been inspected and meets requirements.
10. Maintain safety compliance and keep a clean and orderly work area.
11. Maintain product count, traceability, and inspection status.
12. Interact with and support Manufacturing and Engineering personnel regarding part conformance and process capability.
13. Assist with training other employees in CMM operation.

Qualifications:

Language Skills:
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
Mathematical Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, math data, reports, instructions, and guidelines.
- Knowledge of shop math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T); familiarity with MSA and SPC (training may be provided).
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to solve problems involving a limited number of concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
- Familiarity with word processing software, spreadsheet software, and manufacturing software.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of three (5) years of direct experience as a CMM Operator.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
