Position Overview
This is an outdoor position. You will spend the majority of your shift outside assisting customers, loading vehicles, and moving throughout the nursery. You will be on your feet for most of the day and should be comfortable working in Florida's summer heat and varying weather conditions.
We're looking for a friendly, dependable Cashier/Customer Service Associate who enjoys interacting with customers and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role combines cashier responsibilities with customer service and general nursery support.
Responsibilities
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and process cash, credit card, and other payment transactions accurately.
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service in person and over the phone.
- Answer customer questions and help locate products throughout the nursery.
- Issue receipts, refunds, store credits, and exchanges as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting checkout area.
- Promote current sales, specials, and additional products when appropriate.
- Assist with stocking merchandise and maintaining attractive displays.
- Load plants, mulch, soil, and other materials into customer vehicles (up to 40 lbs.).
- Help keep the nursery clean, organized, and safe.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
Qualifications
- Previous cashier or retail customer service experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Comfortable using computers and POS systems.
- Accurate cash handling and basic math skills.
- Ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Inventory or nursery knowledge is a plus, but we are happy to train the right person.
