Production Control & Purchasing Specialist
Our fast-paced Lebanon, NH client is seeking a Production Control & Purchasing Specialist for their team! You’ll support the execution of production schedules and procurement of materials across the company’s precision optics manufacturing operation. Responsibilities of the Production Control & Purchasing Specialist
- Develop and maintain a finite production schedule across all work centers
- Monitor daily production activity to ensure adherence to schedule and correct job prioritization on the floor
- Release, reschedule, and manage work orders within the ERP system
- Support the Operations Manager in prioritizing labor and resources across the production floor
- Coordinate procurement of raw materials and consumables critical to production
- Source and evaluate suppliers
- Issue purchase orders, track open orders, and follow up on deliveries
- Support inventory management
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through supplier consolidation, alternate sourcing, and commodity review
- Perform additional tasks as required
Qualifications of the Production Control & Purchasing Specialist
- 3-7+ years of experience in production control, scheduling, purchasing, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in production control and purchasing
- Experience working in a build-to-print or job-shop manufacturing environment preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage production schedules and coordinate material flow in a dynamic setting
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, and material requirements planning (MRP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, reporting tools, and ERP systems
- Ability to interpret bills of materials (BOMs), travelers, and revision-controlled documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in precision manufacturing, optics, aerospace, defense, or similar technical industries a plus
- Familiarity with ISO or AS9100 quality systems and controlled documentation environments preferred
- Knowledge of inventory optimization strategies and lean manufacturing principles preferred
- Exposure to cost analysis and supplier negotiation preferred
