The Spotted Whale are retail stores that specialize in coastal living decor and home accessories. Our retail warehouse, Shard wholesale division and our growing B. Oliver Designs Interior Design division are based out of our Lakewood facility. We take pride in our ability to maintain a sense of teamwork within all facets of our business and are looking for a stong warehouse Delivery and Distribution Associate to join our busy team.
The Position
You will be actively pulling, packing/wrapping, assembly, and loading our high-end, home decor product to ensure that all merchandise is delivered accurately, safely, and efficiently based on business demands. As part of the warehouse team, this associate is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of all product moving internally within the company warehouse and retail locations. This associate will also be responsible for completing light maintenance as needed in stores.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for movement, assembly, and delivery of product to customers. Ensure all items are wrapped properly for transport utilizing blankets, bubble wrap, shrink wrap, etc.
- Ensure accuracy of product being distributed to stores, including supplies needed for delivery
- Ensure proper paperwork is completed by the delivery teams and turned in to the Sr. Logistics Manager daily
- Maintain all stores maintenance (hanging wall art, disposing of waste/trash, patching & painting walls, etc)
- Maintain positive and professional daily communication in person and via email to Store Managers, Store Associates, Regional Supervisor, and Logistics Manager.
- If applicable, effectively wrap all items prior to transport utilizing blankets, brown paper, bubble wrap, and/or shrink-wrap
- Ensure all safety rules and guidelines are followed, including traffic safety, parking, and safe lifting
- Maintain supplies on trucks at all times; ensure warehouse equipment/delivery vehicles are maintained regularly
- Ensure that an excellent standard of service and a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained
- Contribute to process improvements to enhance/reduce/control ongoing costs
- Actively participate as needed with other warehouse functions
- Occasional Saturday hours and/or overtime may be needed

Job Qualifications
- Experience: 1-3 years of related warehouse/fulfillment/distribution
- Experience: 1-3 years using basic tools (screw guns, socket wrenches, etc)
- Previous furniture assembly experience a plus
- Previous experience operating a box truck desired; training is available; CDL not required
- Knowledge of POS (point of sale) and/or inventory systems a plus
- Basic computer skills needed - knowledge of email and spreadsheets
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Valid Driver's License/Clean Driving record required
- Weekend work and occasional overtime required

- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Physical ability including, bending, twisting, reaching and lifting 75 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to complete minor store maintenance, such as, but not limited to, hanging wall art, changing light bulbs, and painting
- Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously on a daily basis
