Nutrition Department: Driver
QUALIFICATIONS :
7:00-3:30
- Maintain a current/valid driver license.
- Experience with delivery vehicles and a safe driving record.
- Three years of experience in a school district setting or related experience.
- Operate and control equipment according to industry standards.
- Preferred experience hitching, loading, unloading light commercial trailers.
- Possess knowledge of standard shipping and receiving practices, specifically for food and supply products.
- Possess knowledge and skills in the proper body mechanics for lifting and handling of products and equipment.
- Will be able to work both indoors and outdoors. Will have to deal with inclement weather and work in a walk-in freezer and cooler. Will be exposed to dust and dirt while performing duties.
- Must be able to bend, lift, stand, climb, push and pull and be able to routinely lift up to 90 pounds.
- Maintain current knowledge of commercial cleaning and sanitizing standards and techniques.
- Must be able to use established standards for food safety and sanitation.
- Perform work following industry standards for quality, safety and efficiency.
- Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others, verbally and in writing.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO : Director of Nutrition Services; secondary supervisors include Head Warehouseman and Kitchen Manager II
SUPERVISES : N/A
JOB GOALS : Under the immediate co-supervision of the Head Warehouseman and Kitchen Manager II, the driver will facilitate delivery and storage of food and supplies along with delivery of meals to satellite locations. During times it is not necessary to perform these duties, the employee will be responsible for proper storage and rotation of goods, custodial services within the kitchen and serving areas, general maintenance as well as assisting with meal service duties, such as serving and cashiering.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Comply with required district, department and federal Child Nutrition policies as well as health standards, sanitation procedures and demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices.
- Follow attendance rules, including absence notification procedures.
- Practice good personal hygiene.
- Manage multiple tasks and use time efficiently.
- Follow written and oral directions. Responsible for maintaining district email account and checking regularly for correspondence.
- Safely load and unload deliveries of food and non-food products and properly store in designated storage areas, using FIFO practices and proper body mechanics for lifting and handling products.
- Drive a scheduled route and deliver prepared food and supplies to satellite locations within strict designated time frames. Safe operation of motor vehicles consistent with state and local laws.
- Perform custodial duties, including;
- Sweeping and mopping or using floor scrubber to clean all kitchen and serving area floors, including walk-ins. Floor mat cleaning.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms.
- Responsible for removing trash and recyclables, including compost. Cleaning trash, recycling and compost containers.
- Deep cleaning kitchen as directed by Kitchen Manager or Head Warehouseman.
- Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs in kitchen and serving areas.
- Dock cleaning and maintenance.
- Snow removal on dock and kitchen entryways.
- Deep cleaning of all elementary cafeteria tables in the summer.
- Perform maintenance duties, including:
- Clean hood and oven vents at least twice yearly.
- Clean milk cooler, all reach in refrigerator/freezer and walk-in compressors at least twice yearly, secondary and elementary locations.
- Clean and replace oven and other production equipment filters twice yearly.
- Inspect hot cart wiring periodically and report issues as needed.
- Inspect wheels on all kitchen equipment (hot & cold carts, serving carts, trash barrels, etc) at least yearly and lubricate.
- Inspect floor scrubber, clean and replace parts as needed.
- Inspect mechanical parts of the delivery van/truck, including oil level and lift gate and schedule repairs as needed.
- Other minor repairs as directed by Head Warehouseman.
- Ability to properly use the following equipment:
- Delivery van/truck, including lift gate
- Vending machines, as trained and directed
- Floor scrubber and other custodial equipment
- Operate the point-of-sale computer system as cashier during serving times and perform basic accounting duties, as trained.
- Serve students during meal times and restock serving lines as directed.
- Be courteous and respectful to all customers and co-workers.
- Follows established sanitation guidelines for both food preparation and clean-up and performs clean up duties as assigned.
- Attends and completes district assigned training, which may include online or in person training.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
260 Contract Days. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District’s policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
