Responsibilities
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately to process retail sales transactions, returns, and exchanges.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries.
- Handle cash register operations including cash handling, cash drawer management, and balancing registers at shift end.
- Upsell products and promote store specials or new items to enhance sales opportunities.
- Conduct product demos when applicable to educate customers about features and benefits.
- Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring the sales floor is inviting and well-organized.
- Demonstrate phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely.
- Assist with inventory management tasks such as stock replenishment and product rotation.
- Support store team members with supervising tasks when needed, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Engage in basic retail math calculations for transactions, discounts, or promotions to ensure accuracy.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering preferred; grocery store experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse customers.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve a broader customer base.
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash register operations required; previous supervising experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of retail store product lines and merchandising principles helpful for upselling and product demos.
- Ability to handle cash drawer handling accurately while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent phone etiquette skills for professional remote communication.
- Basic math skills necessary for daily retail transactions and cash handling accuracy.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a positive attitude and proactive approach.
