Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontist during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with confidence and efficiency.
- Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments, ensuring strict adherence to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans when necessary, while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies and following HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate seamlessly with dental reception staff to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and ensure efficient clinic flow.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a dental assistant within an orthodontic or general dentistry setting, with familiarity in dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care.
- Certification in dental assisting or equivalent credentials; additional training in pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining strict adherence to radiation safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages about their treatment plans and oral health maintenance.
- Demonstrated understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards within a clinical environment.
