Position Title: Physical Therapist (Part-Time)Reports To: Special Education CoordinatorFLSA Status: ExemptPosition Purpose: The Physical Therapist provides services to support students physical access to the school environment and participation in educational activities. This role evaluates and treats students with motor and mobility needs, primarily through IEP-driven services, and collaborates with staff to ensure students can safely and effectively engage in the Montessori environment. Core Responsibilities: Assessment and Evaluation: The Physical Therapist will: * Conduct physical therapy evaluations as part of special education assessments* Assess gross motor skills, mobility, strength, coordination, and functional access to the school environment* Contribute evaluation findings to eligibility determination and IEP development* Maintain compliance with all evaluation timelines and documentation requirementsService Delivery and Intervention: The Physical Therapist will: * Provide direct physical therapy services as outlined in student IEPs* Coordinate with the student services team to determine the appropriate schedule of services* Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned to student goals* Support student mobility, positioning, balance, and physical independence* Ensure services are functional and aligned to students participation in daily school activities* Monitor progress toward IEP goals and adjust services accordinglyConsultation and Collaboration: The Physical Therapist will: * Collaborate with Special Education Teachers, Lead Teachers, and related service providers* Contribute to the writing of IEP goals* Provide recommendations for classroom accommodations and environmental supports* Train staff on safe handling, positioning, and mobility strategies when needed* Contribute to IEP meetings and student support planningProfessional Practice and Compliance: The Physical Therapist will: * Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation* Ensure adherence to all legal, ethical, and professional standards* Engage in ongoing professional learning* Uphold all school policies, procedures, and expectationsEssential Functions: The essential functions of the Physical Therapist position include, but are not limited to: * Conducting physical therapy evaluations and assessments in compliance with applicable timelines and legal requirements* Developing and implementing individualized therapy plans aligned to student IEP goals and functional school-based outcomes* Providing direct physical therapy services to support student mobility, positioning, balance, coordination, and physical access to the educational environment* Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant service documentation and records* Collaborating effectively with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student participation and access* Providing recommendations regarding accommodations, environmental supports, adaptive equipment, positioning, and mobility strategies* Training and supporting staff in safe handling, positioning, mobility, and physical support procedures as appropriate* Participating in IEP meetings, evaluations, and multidisciplinary student support processes* Communicating clearly and professionally in written and verbal formats* Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all legal, ethical, and professional standards related to student services and medical information* Performing duties that require frequent movement throughout the school building and physical support of students, including lifting, positioning, transferring, or assisting students with mobility needs as appropriate* Regular and reliable attendancePerformance Expectations: Performance will be evaluated based on: Service Delivery and Student Impact* Effectiveness of therapy services in improving student access and independence Compliance and Documentation* Timeliness and accuracy of evaluations, service logs, and progress reporting Collaboration and Support* Quality of partnership with staff and contribution to student support plans
