We are hiring a Technical Project Manager in Houston, TX. This is a contract position with an international manufacturing firm.

In this role, the Technical Project Manager will be the critical onsite technical leader, ensuring Electrification Solutions project execution meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Technical Project Manager will ensure contractual commitments are fulfilled on schedule and within budget while maintaining high customer satisfaction. This role leverages your expertise to address challenges, formulate and implement objectives for self and others, and influence both short-term and long-term business goals.
Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate site engineering activities to ensure alignment with project requirements, compliance, and quality standards.
- Serve as the primary company field representative and technical authority, conducting daily inspections to verify installation, assembly, and commissioning work comply with engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
- Facilitate issue resolution and maintain schedules.
- Lead field documentation efforts, managing punch lists, pre-task plan verifications, and safety walkdowns (including LOTO and PPE compliance).
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including photos, checklists, and punch items, and communicate project status and risks to leadership and customer.
- Act as the onsite point-of-contact, escalating issues as needed to protect project timelines and customer relationships.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting support across electrical and basic mechanical/controls systems as required.
- Drive formal acceptance of the project, manage contract close-out activities, and secure customer sign-off per contractual requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and zero-incident culture.
- 10+ years of construction/field experience, preferably with electrical systems background.
- Completion of 2 years of trade school, college, or equivalent journeyman experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, and one-line diagrams.
- Working knowledge of ATS, UPS, and switchgear systems, with exposure to commissioning and EPMS/SCADA concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability for creative issue resolution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Proven experience managing subcontractors, trade labor, and multi-discipline field teams.
- Willingness to travel 50% and as required.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively manage a matrix team / organization.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and sense of urgency in dealing with tasks.
- Other languages (Spanish) are an attribute.
- Customer-centric approach with ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and management at various levels.
- Demonstrated expertise in project planning tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent software.
