Nation Security is seeking a proactive, highly trained, and community-focused Armed School Guardian to join our dedicated educational protection team in Fort Pierce. In this critical role, you will be responsible for safeguarding students, educators, and campus visitors by maintaining an alert physical security presence, securing facility access points, and standing ready to execute immediate, decisive active-threat response.
Core Responsibilities
- Campus Defense & Deterrence: Maintain a visible, armed security presence across campus, including entryways, outdoor areas, and administrative buildings, to deter criminal activity and unauthorized intrusion.
- Emergency & Active-Assailant Readiness: Serve as the designated first responder for on-site active threats, critical emergencies, and serious security incidents according to state and facility emergency protocols.
- Access Control & Visitor Management: Regulate entry onto school grounds, verify credentials of visitors and vendors, and ensure perimeter doors remain secure throughout the school day.
- Routine Safety Inspections: Conduct continuous foot and vehicle patrols across school grounds, checking locks, emergency exits, and security hardware for proper operation.
- De-escalation & Community Engagement: Build positive, professional rapport with students and staff while using verbal conflict resolution techniques to defuse disruptions or low-level disputes.
- Digital Incident Reporting: Complete daily activity logs and detailed incident documentation using mobile workforce software (TrackTik).
Position Requirements & Qualifications
1. State Certifications & Licensing
- Florida School Guardian Certificate: Must hold a valid School Guardian Certificate issued by a Florida County Sheriff’s Office in compliance with F.S. § 1006.12 and F.S. § 30.15 (Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program).
- Note: Candidates with active/former Florida Law Enforcement credentials eligible for a Sheriff's Guardian waiver, or those eligible to complete the 144-hour Sheriff's Guardian Academy, are invited to apply.
- Florida Class "D" Security License: Active state unarmed security officer license.
- Florida Class "G" Statewide Firearms License: Active state armed security endorsement.
- Emergency Medical: Active certification in CPR / AED / First Aid (Tactical Medicine / Stop the Bleed preferred).
2. Vetting & Screening Standards
- Age: Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Background Check: Must clear a Level II FBI and FDLE fingerprint background check (no felony convictions or violent misdemeanors).
- Psychological & Drug Clearances: Must pass a psychological evaluation conducted by an FDLE-designated Florida-licensed psychologist and a pre-employment 10-panel drug test (plus ongoing random screens).
3. Required / Preferred Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of verifiable experience in military service (honorably discharged), law enforcement, or specialized armed security operations.
- Previous experience working in educational, youth-serving, or public-sector environments is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to conduct standing and walking patrols outdoors in Florida weather conditions for extended periods.
- Ability to react rapidly on foot to any area of the campus during an emergency situation.
- Vision and hearing meeting law enforcement active-response standards.
