Western Trailers is seeking a dependable CDL Driver to pick up and deliver semi-trailers to customer locations and move trailers throughout our service facility and yard. This position also assists with trailer preparation, shop organization, and other service-related duties when not driving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Pick up and deliver trailers to and from local customer locations.
- Move and park trailers throughout the service yard and shop area.
- Transport trailers to and from weighing stations.
- Complete required pre-trip inspections of tractors and trailers.
- Verify that trailers and loads are properly secured for transportation.
- Inspect trailers for damage, imperfections, and overall cleanliness.
- Assist with preparing trailers for delivery or service.
- Safely operate various truck and tractor models in different driving and weather conditions.
- Install tire chains when required during adverse weather.
- Assist in the service shop and with shop cleanup when not driving.
- Follow all company policies, safety standards, and applicable traffic and DOT regulations.
- Work cooperatively and professionally with employees at all levels of the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid CDL and current DOT medical card.
- At least one year of DOT-regulated commercial driving experience.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles in varying road and weather conditions.
- Ability to work accurately, independently, and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to perform local travel as required.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Physical Requirements
This position regularly requires the ability to:
- Enter and exit a tractor safely.
- Raise and lower trailer landing gear.
- Secure trailers using straps when required.
- Squat, kneel, bend, push, and pull.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
