POSITION SUMMARY:
An employee in this position is responsible for the maintenance and control of the evidence storage room and impound lot in the Office of the Sheriff for Harnett County. This includes: receiving, logging, preserving, safeguarding, and storing of evidence received from Detectives and Deputy Sheriff’s in the course of a criminal investigation; checking evidence out of the evidence room to Detectives and court officials; returning evidence to owners; maintaining vehicles in the impound lot; and destroying evidence in accordance with North Carolina Statutes.
Hiring Range: $40,459.00-$66,756.00
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to perform medium work frequently exerting up to 30 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; and occasionally requiring to exert up to 50 pounds of force to move objects. This work also involves the physical abilities of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, discriminating among sounds, kneeling, lifting, having manual dexterity, using mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, performing repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, expressing ideas by the spoken word, shouting to be heard above ambient noise, and walking. An incumbent must also possess the visual acuity to analyze data, work with color or depth perception, determine accuracy, operate motor vehicles, use a computer, inspect flaws, and do extensive reading.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is subject to hazards associated with law enforcement including working in both inside and outside environments and exposure to various hazards such as various atmospheric conditions, noise, vibration, and physical conditions. The employee is also subject to OSHA Standards on blood borne pathogens and may be required to work in close quarters.
