Job Title: Hydrovac Operator
Company: X-VAC LLC
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Job Type: Full-time
Salary/Pay: Starting at $31 - more for skilled operators
About X-VAC LLC
At X-VAC LLC, we are premier providers of safe, non-destructive hydro excavation and advanced industrial cleaning solutions.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, safety-conscious Hydrovac Operator to join our team. In this role, you will drive and operate our high-performance vacuum trucks, executing hands-on excavation tasks like daylighting (visually exposing underground utilities), potholing, trenching, and debris removal.
This is a highly physical, rewarding role that requires sharp problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and a deep respect for on-site safety procedures around high-risk utility zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe Operation: Drive and operate X-VAC LLC vacuum excavation trucks and equipment in strict compliance with DOT regulations and company safety protocols.
- Precision Excavation: Utilize high-pressure water wands and powerful vacuum systems to safely excavate around sensitive underground utility lines (gas, water, electric, fiber optic).
- Setup & Teardown: Inspect jobsites, rig up heavy vacuum hoses, position overhead booms, and ensure a completely secure workspace before digging begins.
- Equipment Care: Perform daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIR). Keep water and debris tanks properly maintained, ensuring all filtration and winterization systems are operating smoothly.
- Team Collaboration: Partner closely with your on-site crew (swampers/laborers) to ensure efficient, safe, and productive operations.
- Documentation: Complete accurate daily logs, electronic post-job verifications, and professional customer sign-offs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- License: Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience operating hydrovac trucks, combo sewer trucks, or similar heavy industrial vacuum equipment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, work in all outdoor weather conditions (extreme heat, rain, freezing cold), and stand or maneuver on uneven ground for extended periods.
- Safety Mindset: Strong awareness of jobsite hazards. OSHA 10, MSHA, or Confined Space Entry certifications are highly valued (training will be provided to the right candidate).
- Availability: Flexibility to work varied schedules, including occasional overtime, night shifts, or weekend on-call rotations depending on contract needs.
