Performs work in the collection, impoundment and care of dogs, cats and other animals in the enforcement of ordinances relating to control of animals; work varies, individual judgment within prescribed standard procedures; subject to close supervision.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not supervise staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to all weather conditions, confined spaces, dangerous animals, unsanitary conditions, crime scenes and upset or unhappy people.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, crouch, sit, bend, crawl, twist, kneel, reach, ride and perform similar body movements. Must have the ability to perform heavy physical work and to lift and carry up to 75 pounds at a time; the possession of hand/eye coordination sufficient to operate a computer, office equipment and a motor vehicle; the ability to talk
and hear in person or by telephone; ability to listen to and operate a two-way radio: and the ability to see and read instructions and reports.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
The work week is Sunday through Saturday. The work schedule is 40 hours per work week and typically performed Monday through Friday. This position is on a rotating schedule with three Animal Control Officers sharing a rotating schedule, where Saturdays are also covered. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime. Any overtime must be authorized prior to working.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day. Occasional travel may be required to attend off-site training and educational opportunities.
