Position Summary
ACT Equipment is seeking an experienced, organized, and customer-focused Parts Manager to lead our parts department in Oneonta, Alabama. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of parts operations, including inventory management, purchasing, customer service, employee supervision, and profitability.
The Parts Manager will support both retail and wholesale customers while working closely with the sales, service, and rental departments to ensure equipment uptime and outstanding customer satisfaction.

Primary ResponsibilitiesDepartment Management
- Lead and supervise all daily operations of the parts department.
- Hire, train, coach, and evaluate parts department employees.
- Create employee schedules and assign daily responsibilities.
- Foster a positive, customer-focused team environment.
- Establish department goals and monitor performance.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory levels to maximize equipment uptime while minimizing excess inventory.
- Order parts from manufacturers and suppliers.
- Monitor stocking levels using inventory reports and seasonal demand.
- Conduct regular inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
- Identify obsolete inventory and develop plans for liquidation.
- Ensure inventory accuracy within the dealership management system.
Customer Service
- Assist retail, commercial, agricultural, and municipal customers with identifying and ordering correct replacement parts.
- Provide exceptional customer service both in person and over the phone.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Build long-term customer relationships through product knowledge and responsiveness.
- Ensure timely communication regarding special orders and backordered parts.
Service Department Support
- Work closely with service technicians to provide timely parts availability.
- Prioritize parts orders for shop repairs and warranty work.
- Ensure technicians receive accurate parts quickly to minimize repair downtime.
- Coordinate warranty parts returns with manufacturers.
Sales Support
- Assist equipment sales staff by providing accessory and attachment recommendations.
- Support equipment deliveries by ensuring all ordered accessories are available.
- Promote additional parts, attachments, and maintenance items to customers.
Purchasing & Vendor Relations
- Develop strong relationships with manufacturer representatives and suppliers.
- Monitor vendor pricing and promotional opportunities.
- Negotiate purchasing opportunities when appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with manufacturer purchasing programs.
Financial Responsibilities
- Meet department sales and gross profit objectives.
- Monitor inventory turns and carrying costs.
- Analyze monthly department financial reports.
- Develop strategies to improve profitability and inventory efficiency.
- Ensure accurate pricing and margin management.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain organized parts records and documentation.
- Process purchase orders, receiving, invoicing, and returns.
- Ensure warranty parts procedures follow manufacturer requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional parts department.
- Ensure OSHA and safety compliance within the department.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Preferred
- 3–5 years of parts department experience
- Previous management or supervisory experience
- Experience with construction equipment, tractors, lawn equipment, or agricultural equipment
- Familiarity with electronic parts catalogs and dealership management systems
- Knowledge of inventory control practices

Working Conditions
The Parts Manager works in both an office and warehouse environment with regular interaction in the service shop and showroom. This role requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, and occasional operation of forklifts or material-handling equipment.
