Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Molecular PCR Technician to join our dynamic clinical laboratory team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing complex molecular biology techniques, including Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), RNA/DNA extraction, digestions, and other high complexity assays, to support a CLIA/COLA certified laboratory. Your expertise will contribute to advancing clinical testing, ensuring laboratory accuracy, and maintaining high standards of quality control. Duties
- Prepare and process biological specimens through the analytical workflow for PCR infectious disease detection in accordance with aseptic techniques.
- Perform molecular assays such as PCR to analyze biological samples.
- Extract RNA and isolate DNA from various specimen types while adhering to strict laboratory protocols.
- Manage laboratory data using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), ensuring accurate data entry and retrieval. Experience with LabDaq a big plus.
- Implement laboratory quality control protocols by calibrating equipment, maintaining records, and adhering to CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations.
- Interpret diagnostic test results accurately
- Maintain medical laboratory equipment operation, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques during specimen handling.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting with expertise in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and immunoassays.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures including specimen collection/processing, molecular testing, and clinical chemistry testing.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Excellent data management skills with the ability to analyze complex datasets effectively.
- Experience working within CLIA/COLA regulations and implementing laboratory quality control protocols.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory techniques relevant to blood sampling and venipuncture.
- Ability to operate medical laboratory equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for managing multiple assays and experiments simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for documenting procedures accurately and collaborating with team members.
