Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist with medication administration, patient care, and support the health and well-being of residents across various care settings. Duties
- Safely administer prescribed medications to residents and patients following all regulatory guidelines and facility policies.
- Assist with medication documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to ensure accurate medical records.
- Monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, recording findings accurately for medical review.
- Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Support residents with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and other senior care services.
- Perform catheter care, tube feeding assistance, and other medical procedures under the supervision of nursing staff.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Document all medication administration and patient interactions thoroughly in medical records using appropriate medical terminology.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to report changes in patient condition or concerns promptly.
- Assist with medical documentation related to patient care plans and progress notes.
- Support the healthcare team during emergency situations by following established protocols and communicating effectively with first responders if needed.
- Engage in ongoing training related to physiology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and caregiving best practices to stay current with industry standards.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide or Certified Medication Aide (CMA) recognized by state licensing boards.
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of assisted living procedures, senior care practices, Alzheimer’s/dementia/memory care techniques, hospice support, and working with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation.
- Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy relevant to medication administration and patient monitoring.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and handle medical procedures like catheter care or tube feeding assistance confidently.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and provide compassionate resident support.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times.
- Experience working with diverse populations including seniors with complex health needs or disabilities is a plus.
