At The Cardiovascular Center of Florida, we are committed to delivering advanced, patient-centered cardiovascular care within a high-volume outpatient cardiology environment. We are currently seeking an experienced Cardiac Stress Paramedic to support our cardiovascular diagnostics team in a true cardiac stress testing and procedural monitoring setting.
This role is ideal for a clinically experienced paramedic who is comfortable working directly within a cardiology diagnostic environment and has hands-on experience supporting cardiovascular stress testing, patient monitoring, emergency response readiness, and outpatient cardiac procedures.
Position Summary
The Cardiac Stress Paramedic supports outpatient cardiovascular diagnostic operations with a primary focus on cardiac stress testing, patient monitoring, procedural support, and cardiovascular patient care coordination. This position works closely with cardiologists, advanced practice providers, imaging personnel, and clinical staff to support safe, efficient, and high-quality cardiovascular diagnostic services.
The ideal candidate has prior experience working within a dedicated cardiac stress testing, cardiovascular diagnostics, telemetry, emergency cardiac care, or procedural cardiology environment and is comfortable recognizing and responding to acute patient changes during testing procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with exercise and pharmacologic cardiac stress testing procedures within an outpatient cardiology setting
- Monitor patients throughout stress testing procedures, including continuous cardiac rhythm and vital sign observation
- Recognize and promptly communicate abnormal patient responses, rhythm changes, or signs of patient distress to the supervising physician or clinical team
- Prepare patients for cardiovascular diagnostic testing by obtaining vital signs, performing 12-lead EKG placement, and reviewing pertinent patient information
- Initiate IV access and assist with medication preparation and procedural workflows as directed
- Support cardiovascular imaging and diagnostic operations while maintaining patient safety and workflow efficiency
- Provide patient education regarding testing expectations, preparation instructions, and procedural processes
- Accurately document patient information, procedural details, and clinical observations within the electronic health record system
- Collaborate with physicians, technologists, nursing staff, and clinical leadership to support exceptional patient care and operational efficiency
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention, patient privacy, safety, and organizational clinical standards
- Support emergency preparedness and rapid clinical response within the stress testing environment when necessary
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Paramedic program required
- Current Paramedic certification required; Florida certification preferred
- Active ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical Paramedic experience preferred
- Prior experience within a cardiac stress testing, cardiovascular diagnostics, telemetry, emergency cardiac care, cath lab, or outpatient cardiology environment strongly preferred
- Experience with cardiac rhythm monitoring, 12-lead EKG placement, IV therapy, and patient monitoring required
- Ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias and respond appropriately within a clinical setting preferred
- Strong communication, critical thinking, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Experience working within an outpatient specialty or procedural healthcare environment preferred
- Experience with electronic health record systems preferred
