Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate MSW (Master of Social Work) Psychiatric Counselor to join our dynamic mental health team. In this role, you will provide expert psychiatric social work services, including mental health assessments, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and case management. You will work closely with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, to promote mental wellness and recovery. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing clinical documentation standards and medical terminology.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions using therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Implement mental health interventions tailored to patients with various conditions including PTSD, substance use disorders, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s care, and geriatrics.
- Engage in crisis management and crisis intervention to ensure patient safety and stability during acute episodes.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation within EMR/EHR systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for case management, patient assessment, and treatment planning to optimize patient care outcomes.
- Participate in clinical research activities related to behavioral health interventions and contribute to data collection efforts for ongoing studies.
Experience
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution with licensure or certification as required by state law.
- Proven experience working with children, adolescents, adults, or seniors in mental health or behavioral health settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy techniques such as motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychopharmacology support, and evidence-based practices.
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR systems (Electronic Medical Records) and medical documentation standards including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding systems.
- Experience in crisis management, trauma-informed care, addiction counseling, and working with diverse cultural backgrounds is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to psychiatric patient care and familiarity with clinical research protocols enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive social work services.
